Michelle Chimento’s virtual internship at San Jose State University’s King Library was perfectly suited to her career focus. Creating content for the Open Source for Student Learning initiative within the SJSU Affordable Learning Solutions department appealed to her for several reasons. “The position was applicable to my career goals of information intermediation and instruction within an academic library. Secondly, since San Jose was an hour from my home in San Francisco, I was able to participate in the faculty workshops and professional development events. Finally, editing a LibGuide and creating multi-media tutorials strengthened skills learned in my coursework,” she explains. Her work expanding the Affordable Learning Solutions LibGuide is concrete experience that she will add to her resume.
